The first case of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic was reported in India on 30 January 2020, originating from China. As of 13 March, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has confirmed a total of 84 cases and 2 deaths in the country. The outbreak has been declared an epidemic in Delhi,[4] Haryana,[5] Karnataka,[6] Maharashtra[7] and Uttar Pradesh,[8] where provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 have been invoked.

– India records second death and Delhi registers its first due to corona virus COVID-19, while coronavirus positive cases have jumped to 89, with two new cases reported in Maharashtra and one in Uttar Pradesh on 14 March, according to media reports.

The disease is called COVID-19 and is caused by infection from the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, which is one of multiple coronaviruses that can infect humans.

Subbaraman Say- “India does not have a strong links with China in terms of visitor arrivals and so forth in some of these other Asian countries but also the economic spill-overs from China on to India are not severe,”
